Seven High-Speed Rail Corridors in Budget 2026 | Check If Your City is there?

Big infrastructure boost for southern India and beyond! In the Union Budget 2026-27 presented on February 1, 2026, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the development of seven new high-speed rail corridors as “growth connectors” to promote environmentally sustainable passenger transport. These projects, spanning nearly 4,000 km, will drastically cut travel times between major cities, enhance business links, boost tourism, and drive economic growth in Tier-2/3 regions.

Special focus on South India: Hyderabad-Bengaluru, Hyderabad-Chennai, and Chennai-Bengaluru form a “South High-Speed Triangle/Diamond” benefiting Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry. Expected investment: ₹16 lakh crore, with indigenous technology and private participation.
